Activities in Hoi An

Scuba diving
The beautiful Riverside Town of Hoi An is situated on the coast about 45 minutes South of Da Nang. It is a living museum oozing charm & culture from every corner.

Hoi An was almost completely destroyed during the Tay Son rebellion in the 1770’s. It was then rebuilt and served as an important International port until the river silted up which allowed Da Nang to flourish as a commercial centre.

During French colonisation, Hoi An served as an administrative centre and later, during the American War, the Town, with the co-operation of both sides, remained almost completely undamaged.

Thus, Hoi An really offers a sense of history unique in SE Asia.

Golf
This trip will give you the opportunity to discover the diversity of Vietnam in terms of culture, landscapes and history, while devoting time to your favorite hobby, golf. Vietnam was one of the first countries in Asia to create high quality golf courses, including the last Emperor's private 9-hole course in Dalat in the 1920s. There are currently 6 golf courses in Vietnam. This 5 day tour enables you to discover 1 of the best golf courses in Vietnam. There will also be time set aside to relax at the magnificent Ha Long Bay as well as the idyllic seaside resort of Phan Thiet.

Cycling
After catching the Reunification Express train from Hanoi to Hue (with bikes on board) we cycle backroads and lanes as we follow the beautiful Vietnamese coastline, passing through rice fields, small rural villages and some wonderful beaches. Previous travelers have commented that travel by bike is the best possible way to intereact with the amazingly friendly locals, who are often riding alongside us! We take well-earned rest days along the way, giving us time to shake the legs and appreciate the beauty of places such as Hoi An and Nha Trang. Fresh air and exercise among wonderful scenery and hospitable hosts - if it sounds like your type of adventure, come and Cycle Vietnam with us.

Trails and Trekking
After time exploring Hanoi, you will begin a six-day trek through a region just three hours south-west of Hanoi (saving you the several days of travel that reaching the better-known Sapa involves). This region also sees far fewer visitors meaning that those who do trek here benefit from a far more complete experience. The trekking is moderate, and all accommodation is in home-stays.

Continuing south, you’ll visit all the ‘unmissable’ stops such as Halong Bay, Hue, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh. By including two internal flights, you get to see all this without feeling rushed - and there's still plenty of free time for you to enjoy as you choose.

This trip is the perfect way to discover a side to Vietnam where the people and the scenery prove just as fascinating as the country itself. Your hiking takes you through a variety of terrain, including stream crossings and rice paddies, to ancient caves and across suspension bridges. You will pass through ‘Elephant Valley’ and pay a visit to Halong Bay, one of Vietnams five UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

You will trek south from Hanoi and head to the H’mong Village of Mai Chau, which will be the location for the first of many home stays. Through the skills of your guide, you will have the chance to truly understand the way of life for local people, and you will be welcomed to learn about and help with the food preparation throughout your trip. By the time you leave each community you are sure to have learned as much from them as they have from you!

Price includes accommodation, land transportation by private air-conditioned vehicles, English speaking local guide and specialist guide when required, admission fees, most meals and vehicle support, bike hire and mechanical spares on cycling days.
